Self-centered jerks are the heaviest Facebook users, as are those with poor self images:
A recent study of Canadian university students suggests the heaviest users of Facebook are narcissists and people with low self-esteem.The study of 100 students ranked participants based on levels of narcissism and self-esteem. It revealed that those who ranked high for narcissism almost universally spent more time logging into and updating their Facebook profile.

So true, Facebook is for losers…. I will never use this type of crap!
People with real friends don’t need pseudo friends on facebook, twitter and the rest of those stupid internet time-wasting sites.
Get a life people. If you weren’t friends with so-and-so in high school 20 or 30 years ago why the hell would you want to contact them now? who cares what they are doing. I’ve got a real life, not some fabricated persona that I want people to believe I have. Take the time you waste on facebook and get a life. Read. explore. learn. Obviously people on facebook have self esteem issues or they wouldn’t feel the need to tell the world when they take a crap. Get a life and don’t fall into the “trap” of social networking..be your own person. Not what society wants you to be. Be yourself. be real to yourself. Get a life facebook losers!
HAHAHA! I know so many people that have facebook and they really do add people just because they went to the same highschool or know somebody who knows them, NOT because they were friends with them in REAL LIFE. People add people on Facebook to look like they have a lot of friends. Its lame and sad!
I am not a Facebook user.
Having said that, the anti-Facebook comments above are misleading and dripping with arrogance!
1) Facebook is not “for losers” per se. Facebook is full of all kinds of people, with a full gamut of personality types and social statuses. Losers, casual users, parents, employers, businesses, musicians, you name it. (Not to sound like an infomercial)
2) Friends on Facebook are not necessarily “pseudo-friends”. There are plenty of people who keep in touch with those that they know in real life, on Facebook. There are also people who may become legitimate friends and eventually meet in person.
3) “If you weren’t friends with so-and-so in high school 20 or 30 years ago why the hell would you want to contact them now?”
That statement is practically baseless. Why would anybody even contact someone they were never friends with!? Most people who contact someone from 20-30 years prior, do so because they WERE in fact friends back then, but have lost contact with in the years since.
“Obviously people on facebook have self esteem issues or they wouldn’t feel the need to tell the world when they take a crap.”
Again, using a few examples of genuine idiots to represent an entirety numbering in the hundreds of millions. This is textbook intellectual laziness: the technical term for this would be “Hasty Induction”.
“Be your own person. Not what society wants you to be”
Who says Facebook users are all conformists bending to society? There are plenty of outcasts and even political dissidents on Facebook – from Holocaust deniers to Middle East democracy supporters.
Your a loser for leaving such a comment like this.
I have to agree that Facebook users tend to be those who seem to have some kind of “look at me” issues. It’s not even about being social. It’s about trying to put it out there that you have a ton of “friends” when these people you don’t even know. The majority of Facebook users seem to be narcissists and low on self esteem…I totally agree.
Totally agree – opened a FaceBook account to see what all the fuss was about and was bombarded with invites from friends and people I had not seen nor talked to in over 30 years… Why do these LOSERS think I give a shit about what they have been up to these years nor that I even CARE… That goes for my pathetic relatives and friends who use the stupid site and want me to do some quizzes, trivia, and acknowledge their daily activities – who cares… One day, they are going to finally realize how PATHETIC they are… when the FaceBook fad finally wears off..
what is Facebook?
I also agree, I didnt like all the quizzes and games I was being invited to by my “friends” that appeared to do nothing but be on facebook.
I just found the whole concept to be really embarrassingly “gay” and a complete waste of time.
There is so much to learn on Google and Wiki, it’s and have had a lot of fun using other peoples knowledge and experiences to further myself with work and hobbies.
I am often surprised when I’m asked “How do I do this ?” or “How do you fix this ?” by friends or co-workers when all I can think is… ” Have you not heard of GOOGLE ? ”
Anyways I closed my Facebook account because I could not force myself to participate in a complete waste of time and really didnt care about what my friends were doing at all, and did not want them to care about what I was doing.
I feel sorry for people that have an internet connection for the soul purpose of social networking , and do not seem to recognize the fact that people do not generally care about what your doing on a daily basis.
I do however think that facebook may be useful to people who have family long distance and would like to stay in touch or a sick friend or relative that has no other means to communicate.
That being said I suppose facebook would not be all that bad if there was not be so many fanatics on it that over-do everything such as update and quiz games.
The real problem with facebook is the picture sharing and videos etc. Why in the he’ll would anyone have any interest in recent pictures you just posted unless they are your close friends and family and maybe with you at the time of capture? Facebook would actually be okay if people used it for it’s proper purpose i.e staying in contact with close friends and family not adding all you acquaintances and bothering them with your stupid updates all the time. I have an account which I use about twice a month and kept my friends down to around 55 I know probably about 600 people through my travels including family and close friends but only consider myself to have about 50 or so people that I really do give a dam about and I think that’s more then most people so why do I see idiots with 400 friends or in some case 1000+ friends?? Hmmm I bet you any money I’m more popular then these guys and know more people too so I have a suspicion these are the individuals with low self esteem and generally sad pathetic people. In which they should shut down there account and go out join some clubs and make real friends and if asked are you in facebook say NO i have a life and don’t have time to log on to such nonsense.
I don’t even want to waste my time typing this but I agree Gaybook sucks!
Quitting facebook for me has been amazing. I fell into the gap of people who was adding people that facebook would suggest, due to one degree of seperation. it became clear that people I didnt like, I still didnt like. People that were”popular”were usually still into themselves, and facebook was there new yearbook. I was letting my feelings get hurt and thats bs
I thought I had to have mental issues or something b/c I couldn’t understand how everyone I knew thought that Facebook was the greatest invention to mankind and I thought it was for losers. I’ts good to know that im not alone out here among all the crazies, lol.
Agree with most here! Facebook and Google Plus is more than just an advertisement affiliate personal data gathering scam??
It’s a social fad for the politically correct, liberal narcissist, consensus group-think propagandist.
Thousands corporate and multi-national companies using Facebook? Why? Is this a corporate network or a social network? How do we now define “social”? Can’t they produce their own sites and systems? Is this really a place for companies like Nike, Coke or McDonald’s? It’s a joke, it’s antisocial, it’s propaganda.
Boycott Facebook.
Facebook is absolutely shit, and it is even worse now all the commercials are using Facecrap and twittershit.
Never registered with it, never will.
I see my friends and work colleagues most weekdays and weekends, why would I want to waste my time and be bored talking about nothing at all to them on the internet.
Facebok suuuuuucccccccccckkkkkkkkssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!
Facebook REALLY REALLY REALLY sucks. What really worries me is that all of my friends waste their time on it. They actually waste so much of their lives. When I had it I never really enjoyed it – so maybe they see something I don’t. To me it felt like an extension of secondary school with all the playground politics and everyone gossiping about everyone else. Also everyone just comes across like such losers with all their self-interest. It is just really CRINGY!
Sometimes people use facebook to be bully or piss off other people – all the usual things from school/work but on the internet. It is way too invasive in every day life. In your free time you should relax and enjoy doing more enriching things and expanding your interests.
That would make every one feel much better!
People need to get a life. And companies are using facebook to use people.
Sad. People decide that whenever they do something in their sad little lives like take a dump, they need to rush over and post it on their shtbook. Always hated Facebook, can’t compare with real life socializing. I ain’t accepting any bullsht.
How about this? My wife was asking her sister if she had heard that a daughter of an old acquaintance of their parents had died of cancer. Her answer, ” Yeah i heard about it, I have her as a friend on facebook but i never knew she had cancer”. Now, why the hell would you have someone on there who you can’t or won’t stay in touch with, and in this case, someone who clearly doesn’t care about you enough to tell you they are sick or vice versa. I was just about to open my account again, and when i heard that, that was it for me, never again. Facebook is a POS!!!!!
Facebook in my opinion is really Fakebook if you as me and I joined without really understanding the premise behind it. First, does it really matter about what highschool and grammar schoolI attended. I would have to say, “No!” If I did not like the people back when I was younger what the heckwould make me think that they would like me now. What a piece of crap! I hope people get off of the site because it is not safe, too many adverstisements, senseless conversations of writing on a wall. It’s a bunch of BS if you ask me. A friend of mine phoned me and said I sent you my new phone number on my Facebook account. How darn stupid can one person be when all you have to do is pick up the phone. Social network my ass….it’s making people into antisocial, self absorbed, mindless idiots. I can not wait until Facebook ends…heck look at Myspace for example, all of the people on there ran to Facebook. Sooner or later something else will come out and Facebook aka Fakebook will be a thing of the past! I will shout forjoy when that day will come. The only people that really love it is the government because they can find all of the information they need.I can not believe people keepposting pictures of their children, family, etc. when there are so many pedophiles out here on the Internet…it’s just too much. Mark Zuckerberg did the government a damn favor if you ask me…he is a social nut with lots of money.
I’m kind of a loser and I despise Facebook and the culture that sustains it.
I also hate rap, crack, and anal sex the word’s not in on yet, not much experience with.
I just don’t get it, I guess. I did sign on one day, found an old girlfriend, she looked good,
but I sure as hell wasn’t going to bash her privacy with appearing on her site. I like her
well enough to respect her privacy. Facebook is evidence of a decadent culture which
is not conscious of its own abject stupidity. Goofy idea, I think. When Bush was elected,
I knew this millenium was off to a bad start. Now Facebook, then the polar bears will all
die cause people are too stupid to stop breeding like rats.
I agree with many posts above.
I think I only actually follow and care about only 10-20 people on my list.
Others, depend on if they have interesting things to say.
Like one guy who I never met, I find his posts intriguing because he often makes reports of the places I want to visit.
So here’s what I do, I keep “unsubscribing” from people who have little significance in my life, so every time I see my news feed, it will show the stuff I actually wanna see.
I agree FB is an outrageous time-waster. But I still use it sometimes because I wanna keep in touch with my friends overseas (they are lazy to respond via email).
But I also hate facebook because of the globalisation element in it. They can just change what they want and force us to accept the changes. I don’t like this. Whenever I use FB, I think of the money-grubbing team led by Mark Suckerberg (followed by his evil laugh).
I am looking forward to the day I can finally quit facebook.
Facebook is the saddest place now on this planet. Lonely, cruel and cold environment. The reality that will eventually
set in to each persons life is that the disconnection created by using facebook and the apathy that follows will soon
effect each persons overall happiness and well being. The
truth is in the internet world
people are not who they are in
real life, they may do or say
things that would never be said
or done in real life. I have
witnessed the worst forms of
bullying and meaness on
facebook. It is terrible. Get on with living, see the real beautiful world and the few real close friends and family that matter most. Waste not another moment on facebook. Enjoy this awesome life we have been given.
